The Semiconductor ETF ( SMH ) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Wednesday, with over 4.5 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 1.9 million. Shares of SMH were off about 1.2% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Wednesday were Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ), trading down about 1.4% with over 21.0 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Qualcomm ( QCOM ), down about 2.8% on volume of over 14.3 million shares. NXP Semiconductors ( NXPI ) is the component faring the best Wednesday, lower by about 0.1% on the day, while Broadcom ( AVGO ) is lagging other components of the Semiconductor ETF, trading lower by about 3.5%.
