Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT ) is offering free shipping on all orders starting on Monday.
The promotion from Walmart will last for five days and is the company's answer to rival Amazon.com, Inc.'s (NASDAQ: AMZN ) Prime Day, which will occur on July 12. It will also feature discounts on several items, including those from its electronics department.
"We believe saving money every day is better than just one, and that all customers should save, not only some," Walmart told Reuters about its promotion to take on Amazon Prime Day, reports Reuters.
Walmart is challenging Amazon in other ways as well. It's ShippingPass service, which typically costs $49 a year, now includes a 30-day free trial . The service allows for free two-day shipping of select items from the retailer's website.
