Wall Street Whipsawed on Trade, Geopolitical Headlines

Stocks appeared to be struggling for direction on Friday as Wall Street dissects headlines pertaining to US/China trade negotiations and geopolitical developments and their impact on US Treasury yields. At midday, the Dow is clinging to a modest gain while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite drift into the red on losses in the technology and energy sectors.

The Dow, S&P and Nasdaq are all indicated to close the week lower while the Russell 2000 should close out the week higher for a third time in a row with a record high.
