Volatility In Markets Highlighted As TSX Gives Up Most of Thursday's Gains; Trading Thin

Canada's main stock market has given up more than half of the 80 plus hard earned points gained on Thursday, highlighting just how volatile markets are - not just equities, but money and debt markets too - amid concerns about the slow pace of global economic growth.

Today's losses come despite news that euro zone ministers approved a Spanish bank bailout plan.

The volatility and recent losses may have forced many investors to sit on the sidelines. Volumes are thin after the first 30 minutes of trading with no stock anywhere near having 1 million shares traded - as is often the case by this time in the day.
