Vodafone, exporters lead FTSE 100 higher; profit-taking hurts Intertek

March 5 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 edged higher onTuesday as Vodafone gained on plans of a bond issuance andexporter stocks benefited from a strong dollar, while Intertekslipped as investors booked in profits after in-line results.

The FTSE 100 .FTSE was up 0.4 percent outperforming itseuro-zone peers and the FTSE 250 .FTMC was roughly flat by0904 GMT.

VodafoneVOD.L was the biggest boost to the main bourse asit added 2.2 percent after saying it intends to raise about fourbillion euros by issuing mandatory convertible bonds.

Dollar earners such as Unilever ULVR.L , AstraZenecaAZN.L and DiageoDGE.L also supported the FTSE 100.

Capping gains was industrial firm IntertekITRK.L , whichslipped 3.2 percent. A trader cited the fall to profit-takingafter the company posted annual results.

Equipment rental firm AshteadAHT.L gave up 2.8 percentafter its third-quarter report.

Ladbrokes owner GVC GVC.L fell 1.5 percent after postingfull-year results and laying out plans to relocate servershosting online gambling platforms to Ireland as part of itscontingency plans for Brexit. urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nL3N20S23F

Phoenix GroupPHNX.L , Europe's largest owner of lifeassurance funds closed to new customers, gained 2.5 percent onthe mid-cap index after it reported higher full-year profit. urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nL3N20S24F
