Visit a National Park -- for Free
If you're looking for an affordable spring getaway, consider visiting a national park April 21-29. The entrance fee for all 397 national parks will be waived then as part of National Park Week. Some of the parks have special events planned during the week. And many of the parks' partners and concessioners will offer discounts that week. Here's a list of promotions .
With a national park in every state (except Delaware), you shouldn't have to travel too far to get to one. You can use the National Park Service's interactive map to find a park near you . If you plan on staying overnight, you'll still have to pay for camping or lodging. But pitching a tent at a national park is a great way to save money on a weekend (or weekday) getaway.
If you can't make it to a national park in April, aim for June 9 when entrance fees will be waived again.
