U.S. stocks were set to open lower Tuesday amid a 14th consecutive monthly worsening of China manufacturing data and as European banks' Q1 earnings disappointed investors.
Oil prices also weighed on sentiment, with West Texas Intermediate crude recently lower 1% at $44.36 and Brent crude down 0.7% at $45.52.
In domestic data, April total vehicle sales are expected to have risen to 17.3 million units from 16.57 million in March.
Meanwhile, in equities, Pfizer ( PFE ) added over 2% in pre-market trade after Q1 results topped projections and as it raised its guidance for 2016. At the other end of the spectrum, the online platform for small business lending On Deck Capital ( ONDK ) plummeted 37% after missing Q1 estimates and guiding both Q2 and FY sales below the Street's views.
