U.S. Stocks Hanging On To Narrow Gains Ahead of FOMC Conclusion This Afternoon

Led by gains in the energy sector, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was cautiously higher for a fourth straight day on Wednesday ahead of the conclusion of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting later this afternoon. Stocks turned positive when a 4% rally in crude oil prices upstaged another round of mixed economic data on inflation and the U.S. housing market. And while the Fed is not expected to change interest rates today, Wall Street was preparing to parse the post-FOMC statement and Fed Chair Janet Yellen's news conference for signs she intendsto stick to her outlook for two or three additional rate increases this year.
