U.S. Stock Futures Edge Higher on First Trading Day of 2018

US stock futures nudged higher on Tuesday--the first trading session of the year--as markets turn their attention to the latest in geopolitics with little economic news set to shake up sentiment.

Oil prices were narrowly higher with global benchmark Brent Crude up 0.04%, and US crude West Texas Intermediate was up 0.08% recently amid anti-government protests in Iran and ongoing production cuts led by OPEC.

At 9:45 am, data are expected to show the PMI manufacturing index coming in at 55.0 in December vs prior level of 53.9.

In equities, shares of Micronet Enertec ( MICT ) were 26.8% higher pre-bell after the company agreed to sell its Israel-based defense and aerospace subsidiary.
