US initial jobless claims 278k vs 271k exp

US initial jobless claims week ending 26 February 2016

  • Prior 272k
  • Continued claims 2.257m vs 2.250m exp. Prior 2.253m. Revised to 2.254m
  • 4 week avg 270.25k vs 272.00k

Another nothing-doing report and there's certainly been no spoilers recently that would indicate a spoiler for payrolls.

What is noticeable is that there's further evidence that the moves in claims is starting to go sideways now. The jobs market has been very strong for the last few years and there will be a time when we start to see more two way action in it.
