US Futures Little Changed, Dow Futures Rise on Upbeat Earnings
Futures of major US indices were little changed Tuesday, though the Dow was headed for a 45-point gain on strong quarterly results from some of its component companies including Coca-Cola (KO), United Technologies (UTX) and Procter & Gamble (PG).
Oil prices nudged higher reaching fresh 2019 highs with global benchmark Brent Crude up 0.3%, and US crude West Texas Intermediate was up 0.53% recently as Washington moved to end all waivers on imports of Iranian crude.
At 9 am, data are expected to show a 0.4% gain for February's Federal Housing Finance Agency House Price index following a large 0.6% jump in January, according to data compiled by Econoday.
At 10 am, new home sales are expected to retreat to 645,000 annual rate for March from February's 667,000 level. The Richmond Fed's manufacturing report is seen coming in at 11 for April vs March's 10.
In other equity news, shares of Twitter (TWTR) surged 6.9% pre-bell after the micro-blogging platform reported Q1 results that topped Street expectations and a surprise increase in the number of monthly active users.
