UPDATE: JA Solar Commences Mass Production of Solar Power Products; Shares Blaze 7.5%, But Off Day Highs

JA Solar Holdings Co. Ltd. ( JASO ) has commenced mass production of its 5-inch "high-efficiency" monocrystalline modules. The 72-cell modules produce a maximum power output of 215W and a mainstream power output of 210W.

On an annual basis, the modules produce an accumulated power output 3% higher than comparable models, allowing for cost savings in transportation, space and materials of over 2%, a press release stated.

JASO is up 7.5% at $5.55 but above a day low $5.24, trading in a 52-week range of $2.91 - $11.70. Shares have fallen 20% in the last 12 months.
