U.S. Large-Cap Value & Broker-Dealer: 2 ETFs Trading with Outsized Volume

In the last trading session, the U.S. stocks gave a mixed performance. The better-than-expected jobs report from payroll processor ADP and the bounce in oil prices charged up the otherwise subdued market sentiments. Among the top ETFs, investors saw SPY and DIA gain about 0.6% and 1.11% respectively but QQQ move down by about 0.5% on the day.

Two more specialized ETFs are worth noting in particular though as both saw trading volume that was far outside of normal. In fact, in the most recent trading session, both these funds experienced volume levels that were more than double their average. This could make these ETFs ones to watch out for in the days ahead to see if this trend of extra interest continues:

VONV : Volume 4.29 times average

This U.S. large-cap value ETF was in focus on Wednesday as roughly 170,700 shares moved hands compared to an average of roughly 39,760 shares. We also saw some stock price movement as VONV gained 0.7%.

The movement can largely be credited to renewed interest in large-cap value investing amid broad-based volatility in the market, lower long-term treasury yields and a falling greenback. In the last one-month period, VONV was down 5.6%. The fund carries a Zacks ETF Rank #2 (Buy).

IAI : Volume 3.60 times average

This U.S. Broker-Dealers ETF was under the microscope yesterday as nearly 338,000 shares moved hands. This compares to an average trading volume of 93,790 shares and came as IAI lost about 0.4% in the session.

The movement can largely be blamed on the falling long-term U.S. Treasury yields and global growth worries. In the last one-month period, IAI was down over 13.5%. The fund has a Zacks ETF Rank #3 (Hold).
