Turkish industrial output down 4% in April, slides more than forecast

Turkish industrial production fell a greater-than-expected 4.0% year-on-year in April, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Tuesday, logging its eighth consecutive month of declines after the economy tipped into recession last year.

ISTANBUL, June 18 (Reuters) - Turkish industrial production fell a greater-than-expected 4.0% year-on-year in April, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Tuesday, logging its eighth consecutive month of declines after the economy tipped into recession last year.

In a Reuters poll, the calendar-adjusted industrial output figure was forecast to fall 2.5% year-on-year. Month-on-month, industrial production was down 1.0% in April on a calendar and seasonally adjusted basis, the institute said.
