Turkish economic confidence index tumbles 8.5% in May

ISTANBUL, May 28 (Reuters) - Turkey's economic confidence index fell to 77.5 points in May, down 8.5% from a month earlier to its lowest level since October, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed on Tuesday.

The index points to an optimistic economic outlook when above 100 and a pessimistic one when below 100. In April the index rose 3.4% to 84.7 points, marking its third consecutive month of gains.
