Tuesday 8/12 Insider Buying Report: AVT, NLY

Bargain hunters are wise to pay careful attention to insider buying, because although there are many various reasons for an insider to sell a stock, presumably the only reason they would use their hard-earned dollars to make a purchase, is that they expect to make money. Today we look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.

At Avnet ( AVT ), a filing with the SEC revealed that on Monday, Director James A. Lawrence bought 191,000 shares of AVT, at a cost of $41.43 each, for a total investment of $7.91M. Lawrence was up about 1.0% on the buy at the high point of today's trading session, with AVT trading as high as $41.83 at last check today. Avnet is trading up about 0.6% on the day Tuesday. This purchase marks the first one filed by Lawrence in the past twelve months.

And at Annaly Capital Management ( NLY ), there was insider buying on Friday, by Chief Legal Officer R. Nicholas Singh who bought 122,784 shares for a cost of $11.46 each, for a trade totaling $1.41M. Annaly Capital Management is trading up about 0.5% on the day Tuesday.
