The TSX was still slightly changed in the mid-afternoon as losses in info tech shares continued to cancel out gains in resource and healthcare stocks.

Gold and oil were going on different directions on Friday, as gold suffers a blow from a firmer dollar and oil gets a lift from positive sentiments over gasoline consumption and crude production. At last glance, gold was down 1.5% at US$1,231/ounce, while Brent rose 1% to US$43.61/barrel.

Healthcare led advancers, surging 2%, and was followed by energy and miners, which rose 1.6% and 1%, respectively. On the negative side, info tech shed 0.9%. Telecom and utilities were both down by 0.3%.

Total volume traded already exceeded 279 million shares.
