The TSX surged 182 points at midday, adding to its earlier gains with the strength of info tech and resource stocks.
Oil prices rise again on Tuesday amid supply disruptions in Canada. Reports said with the fire in the oil sands region of Canada, outages in the country now total 1.6 million barrels per day, which dented global production by 2.5 million barrels of oil per day. At last check, Brent was up 3.6% at US$45.21/barrel.
Energy led the group, advancing 2.8%, and was followed by info tech, which jumped 1.7%. Miners rallied 1.6%. Only healthcare was on the negative side, shedding just 0.1%.
Total volume traded so far stood at 181 million shares. Aureus Mining (AUE.TO) was the most actively traded stock.
