TSX May Open Higher As Gold Recovers on Soft Dollar

Canada's benchmark index looks set to open higher on Friday after gold and copper prices moved into the green, thanks to a weak dollar.

Stock futures for the December quarter on the S&P TSX index were up 0.2% recently.

The dollar fell on Friday after data showed slower pace in U.S. jobs growth, which is not supportive of the U.S. Federal Reserve's plan to increase rates this year. Gold was last up 0.8% at US$1,263.40/ounce, while copper rose 0.8% to US$2.172/lb.

The TSX shed 15 points on Thursday, dragged down by materials and healthcare.
