TSX Flat Mid-Afternoon As Resources Offset Healthcare Drop

The TSX was modestly higher in the mid-afternoon session at 15,383.88 and close to a day high of 15,402.98, as the further climb in resource stocks helped offset a drop in healthcare shares.

The energy group was the strongest, increasing early gains to 1.94%, as Brent crude oil nears the US$59-per-barrel mark, with tensions in Yemen putting pressure on Saudi Arabia's production and U.S. shale oil output predicted to fall for the first time in four years.

Miners advanced 0.93% despite cheaper gold and copper prices .

On the opposite side, healthcare was still in the lead with losses of 1.26%. Following were industrials, which gave back 0.88%. Telecoms slipped 0.59%, with Shaw Communications (SJR-B.TO) dropping 2.87%.

Total volume traded already reached 225.2 million shares. MBAC Fertilizer (MBC.TO) was the most heavily traded stock.
