April 18 () - Canada's main stock index rose at open on Thursday, supported by energy stocks after oil prices climbed slightly.

* At 9:30 a.m. ET (1330 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange'sS&P/TSX Composite index was up 14.51 points, or 0.09 percent, at 16,558.75.
