TSX Down 20 Points Mid-Afternoon; Miners Narrow Earlier Losses

The TSX was down 20 points mid-afternoon, to reach 14348.70. Mining stocks, which had the steepest fall at midday, narrowed its loss to 1.1% as the bullion continued to trade in the red, with the easing geopolitical tensions in Ukraine and the probable scale back by the U.S. Fed of its monetary stimulus program.

The healthcare sector was the second biggest loser mid-afternoon, down 0.9%. Financials and industrials were off 0.3% and 0.1%, respectively.

In the positive territory, info tech led with a 0.6% gain. Telecom was a close second, up 0.5%. Energy stocks were up 0.3%, lifted by crude oil and natural gas prices that both went up 0.2%.
