TSX Down 1.3% Mid-Afternoon; Miners, Energy Curb Earlier Losses

The Canadian main stock index pared its earlier loss and was down 1.3%, or 187 points, mid-afternoon. Info tech and utilities remained strong amid widespread slump, gaining 0.95% and 0.31%, respectively.
