TSX Could Open Higher on Positive U.S. Jobs Data; Volatility Before EU Meet

Toronto's main stock index could open higher on Thursday, helped by a drop in U.S. jobless claims, though trading was expected to be volatile ahead of a high-stakes EU summit on Friday, according to a Reuters report.

Potash Corp. (POT.TO) said it settled a lawsuit with Mosaic over rights to the Esterhazy potash mine in Saskatchewan.

Enbridge Inc. (ENB.TO) does not expect a big jump in costs due to a one-year addition to the hearing schedule for its C$5.5 billion ($5.44 billion) Northern Gateway pipeline to Canada's West Coast from Alberta, its CEO said on Wednesday.

Kirkland Lake Gold Inc. (KGI.TO) posted higher second quarter profit helped by a rise in gold production and prices.
