TSX Close: Toronto Market Ekes Out Small Gain

Canada's main stock index drifted lower in the final hours of trading, but still managed a positive close.

The S&P TSX Composite Index finished 4 points higher to 11,330 after hitting a high of 11,421 in the morning session.

Materials and information technology shares led advancers, offset by losses in financial and consumer issues.

Heavily traded stocks included Kinross Gold (K.TO), up 6%, Manulife Financial (MFC.TO), down 1%, Husky Energy, (HSE.TO) off 0.5% and Cline Mining (CMK.TO) which was 18% higher.
