TSX Up 86 Points, Sectors Broadly Higher; Miners, Energy Lead Surge on Commodities

North American stocks were broadly higher at midday, as investors turn hopeful about the global economy, thanks to upbeat reports from the Euro zone that showed quarterly expansion of the German economy. The S&P TSX Composite Index was nearly 86 points higher, with every major sector in the green.

Miners and energy stocks led the broad surge with gains of 1.13% and 0.76%, respectively. This was after prices for gold, silver, copper, and crude oil went up at midday. Financials gained 0.42%.

Meanwhile, investors are still on the lookout for clues on the U.S. Federal Reserve's stimulus program, as it holds its 3-day conference.
