TSX Up 86 Points at Midday As Ukraine Tensions Ease, But Healthcare Losing Amid Broad Rally

Canada's benchmark index jumped 86 points at midday, as worries over political tensions between Russia and Ukraine calmed down, with Russia ending military exercises near the Ukraine border.

All sectors except healthcare were gaining. Significant gainers were industrials (+1.18%) and info tech (+0.97%). Miners and energy rose 1.00% and 0.28%, respectively, lifted by strong copper and crude oil prices . Financials jumped 0.67%.

On the other hand, healthcare lost 0.49%, with Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX.TO) dropping almost 3%.

Volume traded so far was more than 114 million shares. Bombardier (BBD-B.TO) was the most heavily traded stock.
