TSX Up 47 Points Mid-Afternoon; Healthcare Still In The Red, Financials Biggest Gainer

The TSX was up nearly 47 points by mid-afternoon at 14885.82, paring its earlier rally, after financial and industrial stocks, the strongest sectors at midday, gave back some of their earlier gains. Financials rose 0.53%, while industrials were up 0.14%.

Energy shares jumped 0.49% after crude oil went up 1.65% to US$104.35 a barrel. Info tech climbed 0.45%, and utilities surged 0.46%.

Meanwhile, healthcare remained in the red, down 0.37%, with Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX.TO) shedding 0.14% despite getting U.S. FDA approval for Jublia. Miners slipped 0.09%, dragged down by copper prices .

More than 140 million shares have changed hands so far. There were 836 advancers and 627 decliners.
