TSX Up 32 Points Mid-Afternoon; Healthcare, Energy In The Lead

Buy or sell dice

The TSX was up 32 points in the mid-afternoon session after erasing earlier losses, with healthcare and energy stocks leading gains.

Gold and copper prices were under pressure as gold rices rose on the back of U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's testimony before the Senate. Yellen said a March rate hike remains on the table, as waiting too long to hike would be unwise.

Healthcare and energy advanced 1.8% and 0.6%, respectively. On the negative side, mining and metals shed 0.4% and 0.9%, respectively.

Total volume traded was 255.8 million shares. Northern Dynasty Minerals (NDM.TO) was the most actively tarded stock.
