The S&P TSX Composite Index was up about 31 points mid afternoon, from a 47-point gain at midday, as weakness in the prices of key commodities continue to hurt Toronto's resource-heavy main stock index.
Telecom was still the biggest gainer, up 0.68%. It was followed by industrials, up 0.53%, as Bombardier Inc. (BBD-B.TO) shares gain 0.8% on news Mesa Air Group Inc. signed an agreement with United Airlines, extending the term of its existing fleet of 20 Bombardier CRJ 700 aircraft to 2019. Energy stocks also sustained their strength and went up 0.52% in the afternoon session.
Miners, down 0.85% at midday, fell 1.45% mid afternoon, as gold dropped 1.64%. Info tech was still in the red, down 0.12%. Financials and healthcare moved into the negative territory, down 0.05% and 0.06%, respectively.
