TSX at 2pm: TSX Higher as Energy Shares Advance on Positive U.S. Economic Reports

The Toronto stock market was higher in afternoon trading as gains in energy shares offset declines in mining and gold stocks. Market sentiment was mostly positive amid some upbeat U.S. economic reports and a successful government bond auction in Italy, which helped dampen election worries.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 65 points at 12,725, just off session highs of 12,738.

The telecom, industrials and energy sectors led advancers while materials was weaker.

Heavily traded B2Gold (BTO.TO) was up 1.5%; Bombardier (BBD-B.TO) added 2%.
