The TSX is up 22 points this morning, boosted by higher commodities prices, though gains have been limited by losses in the financial sector.

Miners are the biggest gainer, up 1.7%, followed by energy, which has gained 0.92%.

Financials are down 0.51%, the biggest loser so far.

Crude oil is trading higher, at US$53.19 per bbl, though Action Economics said pricing is pulled between OPEC cuts and increasing U.S. shale production.

Positive economic data from Japan and France helped ease worries over U.S. President Donald Trump's focus on protectionism instead of on fiscal stimulus.
