TSX Up 18 Points at Midday As Energy, Miners Lead Gains

The TSX added 18 points in the midday session as energy and mining stocks held on to their gains despite falling oil and gold prices .

Gold and oil prices were lower after the dollar rebounded. Oil was also weighed down by Genscape's report of an increase of more than 840,000 barrels in U.S. crude in the four days to April 19 at the Cushing, Oklahoma delivery point.

Energy led advancing 1% and was followed by miners, which rose 0.6%. On the negative side, financials shed 0.6% and telecoms slipped 0.4%.

Total volume traded so far stood at 235.6 million shares. Teck Resources (TCK-B.TO) was the most actively traded stock.
