TSX Up 14 Points at Midday, Boosted by Miners; Energy, Financials Limit Gains

The TSX added 14 points at midday, helped by the rise in mining stocks, although weak energy and financial shares capped gains.

Gold and oil prices were in the green after the dollar softened in thin markets, although the currency stayed near 14-year highs.

Mining was the strongest group, up 0.7%, and was followed by telecom, which was ahead by 0.4%. Only energy and financials were in the red, shedding 0.3% and 0.1%, respectively.

Total volume traded so far was 102.3 million shares. U3O8 (UWE.TO) was the most actively traded stock.
