TSX At 10am -- Down 47 Points, Info Tech The Biggest Loser, Healthcare The Biggest Gainer
The TSX is down 47points this morning, on mixed sectors. Info tech is the biggest loser this morning, down 0.27%, while healthcare is the biggest gainer, up 0.49%.
Canada created 41,700 jobs in July, considerably more than expected, and the unemployment rate dropped to 7% from 7.1% in June, according to revised data Friday from Statistics Canada. Market analysts had forecast a gain of 20,000 jobs. Statscan reported that 59,900 part-time positions were created in July, while full-time jobs dropped by 18,100.
Existing home sales in Canada rose in July from June, the sixth straight monthly increase and taking sales to their highest level since March 2010, the Canadian Real Estate Association said today. Sales activity was up 0.8% last month from June.
