TSX At 10am -- Down 40 Points, Healthcare The Biggest Loser

The TSX is down 40 points at 10am, with most sectors bar info tech, in the red. Healthcare is the biggest loser this morning, shedding 0.71%, followed by telecom, which is down 0.3%.

Info tech is the sole gainer, up 0.22%.

The value of building permits issued rose in April, the first time since January, but still fell short of expectations as a drop in non-residential construction plans partially offset a gain in housing.

Builders took out $6 billion worth of permits in April, up 1.1% from the previous month. Statistics Canada also revised the March decrease in permits to 3.2% from 3%.

China's services sector fell to a four-month low in May. The services purchasing managers' index (PMI) compiled by HSBC/Markit slipped to 50.7 in May from April's 51.4.
