TSX At 10am -- Down 4 Points, Energy The Sole Gainer On Back Of Oil Price Gains Sparked By Iraq Tensions

The TSX is down four points this morning, with energy the sole gainer this morning. The sector is up 1.2% after news that Sunni extremists have gained control over Iraq's second-biggest city, Mosul. Mosul has the nation's largest refinery. Crude oil prices have jumped 1.53% higher, while natural gas is 0.82% higher.

The biggest loser this morning is telecom, down 0.88%, followed by miners, which have shed 0.65%.

Canadian new housing prices in April edged up by 0.2%, matching the previous monthly rises. This translates to an annual 1.6% rate of increase, Statistics Canada said Thursday.
