The TSX is down 27 points this morning, on mixed sectors. Healthcare is the biggest gainer, up 0.62%, followed by energy, up 0.3%.

Utilities is the biggest loser this morning, shedding 0.19%.

US retail sales slowed in July. Retail sales, which had increased 0.2% in June, were held back by a second month of declines in sales at auto dealers, and weak sales of furniture and electronics and appliances.

China's industrial output grew 9% in July, less than economists had forecast, while the Japanese economy contracted the most since the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
