Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the top 10 names showing unusual option activity on tradeMONSTER's LiveAction data system.

Lincare Holdings (LNCR): Options volume 1,674 percent above average. An investor sold 5,000 November 20 puts and 5,000 November 24 calls, looking for the stock to move sideways. LNCR rose 0.70 percent to $21.46.

BioMimetic Therapeutics (BMTI): Options volume 981 percent above average. An investor bought the December 6 calls and sold the October 5 calls, apparently closing a bullish diagonal spread. BMTI rose 1.59 percent to $3.19.

Onmicare (OCR): Options volume 684 percent above average. About 2,600 December 20 puts were bought for $1.55 as an investor positioned for downside. OCR fell 3.15 percent to $20.94.

American Axle & Manufacturing (AXL): Options volume 658 percent above average. The January 2013 7.50 puts and January 10 puts traded heavily against open interest. AXL rose 6.49 percent to $8.20.

ChinaCast Education (CAST): Options volume 598 percent above average. Investors bought about 1,000 November 2.50 calls for $1 to $1.05, positioning for upside. CAST rose 26 percent to $3.11.

  • Jefferies Group (JEF): Options volume 531 percent above average.
  • Celanese (CE): Options volume 512 percent above average.
  • Ryland Group (RYL): Options volume 399 percent above average.
  • Healthspring (HS): Options volume 379 percent above average.
