About halfway through today's session, here are the top 10 names showing unusual option activity on tradeMONSTER's data systems.
Cninsure ADR (CISG): Option volume 2,294 percent above average. There was heavy trading in the September 11 puts for $1.30 to $2.75. CISG fell 10 percent to $10.98.
Collective Brands (PSS): Option volume 1,413 percent above average. Activity surged after the shoe retailer beat earnings forecasts and announced plans to close stores. PSS rose 22 percent to $12.50.
Liz Claiborne (LIZ): Option volume 1,157 percent above average. Investors bought more than 4,000 September 5 calls for $0.20, looking for upside. LIZ rose 4.65 percent to $4.50.
Ventas (VTR): Option volume 967 percent above average. Investors bought more than 3,000 October 50 puts, looking for downside. VTR fell 1.19 percent to $50.59.
Shanda Games (GAME): Option volume 807 percent above average. Investors purchased more than 1,000 March 5 calls for $1.05 and $1.10. GAME rose 11 percent to $5.40.
