News (NWS): Option volume 2,480 percent above average. An investor sold about 19,000 October 16 calls for $0.63 and bought 23,000 October 15 puts for $1.48 to $1.50, positioning for lower prices. NWS rose 3.14 percent to $14.45.
CareFusion (CFN): Option volume 2,147 percent above average. A block of 6,300 August 23 puts were sold for $0.75 against existing open interest. CFN rose 6.87 percent to $23.79.
Meritor (MTOR): Option volume 1,740 percent above average. Some 10,000 February 10 calls were purchased for $1.30 to $1.45. There was also unusual activity in the February 10 puts and the February 9 puts, possibly suggesting an unusual arbitrage strategy. MTOR rose 4.02 percent to $8.53.
Giant Interactive (GA): Option volume 1,021 percent above average. About 6,000 August 7.50 calls and 3,000 August 7.50 puts were sold against existing open interest. GA rose 4.36 percent to $7.91.
