Thursday's ETF with Unusual Volume: XPH

The SPDR S&P Pharmaceuticals ETF ( XPH ) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 315,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 59,000. Shares of XPH were off about 2.3% on the day.

Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Pfizer ( PFE ), trading up about 0.2% with over 19.1 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Merck ( MRK ), off about 0.8% on volume of over 6.6 million shares. Aratana Therapeutics ( PETX ) is the component faring the best Thursday, up by about 2.4% on the day, while Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals ( TTPH ) is lagging other components of the SPDR S&P Pharmaceuticals ETF, trading lower by about 8.3%.
