The iShares Global Energy ETF ( IXC ) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 1.1 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 166,000. Shares of IXC were up about 0.5% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ), trading off about 0.9% with over 50.1 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Transocean ( RIG ), up about 4.3% on volume of over 18.1 million shares. Tesoro ( TSO ) is lagging other components of the iShares Global Energy ETF Thursday, trading lower by about 4%.
