Thursday Sector Laggards: Financial, Services

In afternoon trading on Thursday, Financial stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 1.0% loss. Within that group, Everest Re Group Ltd (Symbol: RE) and Navient Corp (Symbol: NAVI) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 6.5% and 4.5%, respectively. Among financial ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLF), which is down 1.9% on the day, and up 3.31% year-to-date. Everest Re Group Ltd, meanwhile, is up 0.02% year-to-date, and Navient Corp, is down 16.86% year-to-date. Combined, RE and NAVI make up approximately 18138856.4% of the underlying holdings of XLF.

The next worst performing sector is the Services sector, showing a 0.5% loss. Among large Services stocks, Comcast Corp (Symbol: CMCSA) and Walt Disney Co. (Symbol: DIS) are the most notable, showing a loss of 5.0% and 4.7%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF ( IYC ), which is down 0.6% in midday trading, and up 8.75% on a year-to-date basis. Comcast Corp, meanwhile, is up 14.58% year-to-date, and Walt Disney Co. , is down 6.43% year-to-date. Combined, CMCSA and DIS make up approximately 10.7% of the underlying holdings of IYC.
