Technology stocks were riding late buying to modest gains Thursday afternoon, with the shares of tech stocks in the S&P 500 adding almost 0.3% in value while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose over 0.4%.

Among technology stocks moving on news:

(+) CUI Global ( CUI ) was fractionally lower late in Thursday trading, drifting south from a 7% gain earlier in the session that followed the electromechanical components company saying its Orbital Gas Systems subsidiary has received purchase orders for integration projects totaling $3.3 million from a Texas-based engineering, procurement, and construction company during Q4.

In other sector news:

(+) Energous ( WATT ) was soaring nearly 53% higher on Thursday after the wireless, radio-frequency powered devices company unveiled its first customer product to secure Federal Communications Commission approval: the WattUp-enabled personal sound amplification products from Delight.

(-) DropCar ( DCAR ) was 3% lower Thursday afternoon, yielding most of a more than 26% increase soon after the opening bell that followed the automotive logistics company completing the previously announced sale of its WPCS International subsidiary in Suisun City, Calif., for $3.5 million in cash.

(-) JinkoSolar Holding Company ( JKS ) slid 2% lower on Thursday. The photovoltaic panels manufacturer announced it was selected to supply solar modules for a 60-megawatt solar farm in Kampong Speu, Cambodia.
