Technology stocks were continuing to advance during Monday trading, with shares of tech companies in the S&P 500 riding a nearly 1.0% gain while the Philadelphia semiconductor index ( SOX ) was trading over 2.1% higher.

+ Qumu ( QUMU ) was trading higher Monday, reaching a session high of $2.47 a share following a nearly 2% rise, after today saying it has hired David Ristow as its permanent chief financial officer, removing "interim" from his job title after about six weeks. He replaced Kimberly Nelson, who left the company last month after more than five years as CFO at the company.

+ VMWare ( VMW ) rose after analysts at KeycBank today raised their investment call for the company's stock to Overweight from Sector Weight.
- Akoustis Technologies ( AKTS ) priced a $14.5 million private placement of 2.6 million shares of common stock at $5.50 apiece, a 16.0% discount to Friday's closing price. The deal was led by board co-chairman Jerry Neal and included both institutional and accredited investors.
