Technology shares were higher in pre-market trade Wednesday.

In technology stocks news, Symantec ( SYMC ) is crossing a slightly lower ask of $25.03 after William Blair cut its rating on the shares to market perform from outperform.

And, Verifone Systems ( PAY ) is bid higher at $34.80 in Wednesday's pre-market trade after Barclays boosted its rating on the shares to overweight from equalweight and raised its price target to $47 from $36 per share.

Finally, TASER International ( TASR ), a safety technology company, said the Los Angeles Police Department has purchased 860 AXON body-worn video cameras and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has announced a plan to equip a total of 7,000 officers with body cameras in 2015.

Shares of TASR are up $0.65, or 2.84%, at $23.50 in pre-market trading within a 52-week range of $10.46 - $25.02.
