Top Tech Stocks
Technology stocks were the lone industry sector in the red today, with shares of tech companies in the S&P 500 sinking about 0.4% this afternoon.
In company news, Alphabet (GOOG,GOOGL) stumbled Monday, with shares of the technology conglomerate drifting near their session low of $952.36 apiece despite the Avis Budget Group ( CAR ) today confirming an agreement with Alphabet's Waymo unit to provide fleet support and maintenance services at its Avis and Budget Car rental locations for Waymo's self-driving car program.
The collaboration is expected to support an upcoming public trial of Waymo's self-driving cars in Phoenix, Ariz. Avis will make changes at selected rental facilities to accommodate Waymo's expected 600-car fleet and will also provide interior and exterior cleaning, oil changes, tire rotations and other routine maintenance.
