Technology Sector Update for 01/05/2017: UNXL, MSFT, AAPL, IBM, CSCO, GOOGL

Technology shares were lower in pre-market trade on Thursday.

In technology stocks news, Uni-Pixel ( UNXL ) was up 6.7% after the developer of touch sensor films for the touch screen and flexible electronics markets said preliminary revenue for Q4 was $1.4 million, up 53% from Q3. Of the $0.5 million increase, Uni-Pixel said new product revenue was responsible for 84% of the increase and legacy products from 2015 comprised 16% of the increase.

And, The New York Times ( NYT ) said Apple ( AAPL ) has removed its news apps from the China app store at the request of Chinese authorities. According to the newspaper, the consumer electronics giant removed both the English- and Chinese language apps from the app store on Dec. 23. It said apps of other international publications such as The Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal were still available in the China App store.
