In a company news post , Target Corp ( TGT ) has announced that it will be expanding its price match guarantee program to items bought through its online store. An expansion of its current in-store policy, purchases made on Target.com are now qualified for price matching with the company's many retail competitors.
Beginning Thursday October 1, Target will increase the amount of retailers it matches prices with to 29, including big name competitors Wal-Mart Stores Inc ( WMT ), Amazon.com Inc ( AMZN ), Best Buy ( BBY ), and even wholesale giant Costco Wholesale Corp ( COST ). The company previously only price matched with five other retailers. According to the post, Target "looked at which competitors are most important to [their] guests, and where there's a lot of overlap with [it's] product assortment, and landed on the competitors that are most relevant for [their] guests."
Target has also increased the time frame in which customers have to request a price adjustment, from 7 to 14 days; this is available in both Target's brick-and-mortar locations and its online store.
"We're all about bringing our guests personal, easy and convenient options whenever and however they choose to shop," the company concludes.
